Chepstow Diamonds Gain Semi Finals This past weekend, the Chepstow Folmer Phillippi Sawmill Diamonds fastball team played in Innerkip. Teams were from the Senior and Intermediate divisions. The Folmer Phillippi girls played the Hamilton Pontiacs Friday evening. The Diamonds started slow and Hamilton grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Hamilton added 2 more runs in the later innings with aggressive base running. Chepstow could only muster a run in the fourth on a triple by Tracey Hatt and a single by Pickard. Final score was 4-1 for the Pontiacs. Pitching for the Diamonds was Julia Millar and Suzanne Reinhart, who allowed 4 hits. Alison Maas caught. Hatt had 2 hits. Maas, Reinhart, Pickard and Katherine Mullin each had singles. The Diamondís next opponent was the Brantford Red Sox. Lead off hitter, Tracey Hatt jumped on a pitch in the first inning and belted a hard drive back to the fence. Aggressive base running led to a home run. The Sox tied it in the fourth inning combining a single, errors and aggressive base running. The game remained scoreless the rest of the game and both teams finished with the tie. Hatt had 3 hits in the game. Singles went to Holly Detzler and Kristian Halstead. Jill Kuntz had 3 walks. Hatt received a game star for her efforts. Pitching for the Diamonds was Katherine Mullin and Jill Kuntz who allowed 3 hits. Halstead caught. A 2 hour rain delay occurred. Game 3 featured Byron as the opposition. The Diamonds scored 2 runs in the third inning on a combination of 4 consecutive hits and good base running. They added another in the seventh when Sasha Banks doubled home Detzler. Reinhart and Kuntz pitched, allowing 6 hits. Maas and Halstead caught. Banks and Detzler had 3 hits. Hatt had 2. Singles went to Maas and Mullin. The Diamonds next action came Sunday morning featuring the powerhouse senior team, UWO Mustangs. London scored 2 runs in the second inning. Chepstow fought back in the fourth with 3 runs and took the lead. Western scored 4 runs in the fifth inning to regain the lead. Final score was 6-3. Mullin, Kuntz, and Reinhart pitched, allowing 6 hits. Kristian Halstead and Maas caught. Krista Cameron had 2 hits. Singles went to Maas, Detzler, Banks and Halstead. Next action for the Folmer Phillippi Diamonds will be the provincial grand championships that are to be held in Byron on the Civic weekend. There will be teams from Hamilton, Byron, Brantford among others. First game action will be Friday night at 6:30. The Diamonds are looking forward to the action and will be doing their best to bring home the provincial championship banner.

Chepstow Mite All Girls Team
The mite girls played against a mixed team of fordwich tonight. First time pitchers, Kathryn Phillippi and Ashley O'Hagan had great games. Sara Borho had a great double. Final score was Fordwich 10 - Chepstow 5.

In action Aug 2 at 7:00 pm the Folmer Phillippi Diamonds defeated Whitby by a score of 7-0. The bats were hot as Holly Anstett and Laura Kranenburg hit home runs. Kristian Halstead and Katherin Mullin each had triples. Jill Kuntz pitched the win. Halstead caught. There are now 4 teams left. Chepstow plays at 9:00 on Sunday morning against the Hamilton Hurricanes. The winner plays Brantford who lost to Hamilton Pontiacs. The Pontiacs will await one the 3 remaining.

games midday. Chesptow lost to Brantford in a real close 2-1 battle. Brantford's pitcher compiled quite a few stikeouts en route to the win. Chepstow's next game is 7:00 Sat night.

In continuing action from the Tier 1 championships in Chepstow, The Chepstow Daimonds defeated London UWO 4-2. Jill Kuntz pitched the win. Kristian Halstead caught. Laura Kranenburg had 2 big hits for Chepstow. In the other game this morning, Hamilton Hurricanes defeated Milverton 6-4. Whitby is currently playing Townsend and Clarkson is playing Byron

Scores from the Provincial Womens Tier 1 Tourney at the Lion's park for Aug 1. Erica Mcteer and Tracey Hatt hit triples to lead the Chepstow Diamonds to a 2-1 win over Clarkson. Suzanne Reinhart pitched the win, allowing 2 hits for the victory. Alison Maas caught. Other scores featured a real barnburner between Milverton and Townsend. Final score was 10-9 for Milverton in 8 innings. Hamilton Pontiacs defeated Byron 5-0 and Brant ford was ahead of Whitby by a 4-1 score late in the game. Action resumes with Hamilton Hurricanes playing Milverton and Chepstow Diamonds playing London UWO. Both games are at 9:00.

The Rookie ball team is off to a "rockin" start this year! The team has played three games and all have ended in ties. The players are keen and ready for more ball and are looking forward to facing Cargill on Wednesday night in Cargill at 7:00.
